  4. Mounting the Units on the Instrument

  7. The stem that holds the calibration balls 
  8. clamps onto the headrest of the instrument 
  9. with a thumb screw.  It should be mounted 
  10. as far up on the headrest as possible 
  11. without getting onto the curved portion. 
  12. Rotate it in towards the objective of the 
  13. instrument so the ball is at about the 
  14. location where the patient's eye would be.  
  15. The tendency is to have it too far away 
  16. from the objective where it is impossible 
  17. to get it in focus.

  19. With the single bar type of calibration unit, 
  20. it is either held in place by magnets onto 
  21. the headrest or clamps onto the head rest.  
  22. Again position it as close to where the 
  23. patient's eye level would be as possible.
